Ratatouille
Look closely at the stars they are made of cheese and there are bite marks taken out the cheese. This film is about a rat that becomes a famous chef while assisiting a man who is useless in the kitchen. I feel that this picture is ideal, it doesn't give much away. I only know what i know about this poster because i've watched the film. It would be interesting to hear the views about this poster of others that haven't watched the film. I think if i were to create a poster for this film, i would of straight away gone with the cheese idea.
Titanic
What a boring film... ZZZZzzzzz. However, the figure where the ship shows through might not be immediately recognizable, but after a few seconds you will realize it is an iceberg. I'm not sure about this image. I asked myself, why the giant iceberg and the small ship? The colour is fine, i'm happy with that. If i was to change anything it would be the image. I would go for something more sophisticated.
Scarface
This poster is basic. It portrays blood and cocaine. The cocaine is what a lot of Cubans wanted and were being killed for in the film. The blood portrays the deaths. Also it was only a matter of time until Tony Montana was killed. I like this poster, it's a clever idea to fit the storyline into one small image. I don't think i could ever come up with a clever idea such as this. If i were to improve it, i think i would put a detailed dead body onto the poster to be honest.
Inception
I had to watch this film times to understand the meaning of it. The use of a head within a head within a head also correlates directly to the storyline, though you would have to see it to know it. Dreams within dreams. This is a fascinating design, the image points out a maze. To gather an opinion on the film you would have to watch it. Personally i feel that this is the best minamilist poster idea for inception, as the maze image justifies the film, because the film is simply so confusing. If i were to come up with an idea to improve this poster, i would have to aim for something that symbolises the purpose or the meaning of this film.
Edward Scissorhands
This poster is a great one because it just gives the name and a simple image of two pair of scissors crossing. If you look more closely it even gives off the impression of being a hand. I do think this is appealing, but it'll only appeal to people that have actually watched the film. I do think this poster would work if it was black and white, but it wouldn't be attractive. If i were to design a poster based on this film i would try and improve it and create something new. What i would create, i'm not so sure as it would take time and planning.
Minimalist poster idea
Shottas - A film set in Jamaica, a film i've watched numerous times and a film i never seem to get bored of. It's become a favourite. It will be difficult to see what idea i come up with to make it minimalist, but it's also a challenge.

With Lance we are now moving on to minimalist posters. Like the logo design we must design our own. Minimalist posters are posters but with minimal detail, 3/4 colours and very specific.

For Lance we had to research scary posters and identify what makes a horror poster scary?

A professional make up artist called Kate came into college to show us how we could turn each other into Zombies.
I opted out of having make up on my face. Kate brought different colored face paint. Kate showed us a method how to make blood.
We used thick chocolate sauce and red food coloring.
Later on, while we were all ready and set to go, we went down to the photography lab to take some shots of our 'Zombie' classmates posing for our Horror posters for Lance.
I think this went well, it was certainly a fun and entertaining lesson.

What makes posters scary? Posters like this that reveal hideous creators or zombies. Blood, gore and dirt are the key to adding extra fright and horror into horror pictures. Also their facial expressions. The eyes that are not a normal colour have been changed to a colour that looks like flesh. The mouth contain blood dripping down from it. Also the hands, she's grabbing the ground and looks to have a tight grip. I think this is appealing especially with the gun being pointed to her head. I like this picture too as it contains a lot of detail.
Horror photograpgy
This picture is an example of horror photography. What makes this bit of photography horror? The girls pose, her fingernails are incredibly long, sort of like what vampires would have. Her eyes are like the eyes of a blind person, just grey. Her mouth has a brace on it that looks like it's causing her to bleed. My opinion is that this is a good piece of horror photography that's why i chose to upload it. The girl in the picture looks monstrous and like a vampire.

Font
This font, you may know where this was used. Well if you watched the series 'Buffy the vampire slayer' then you may know that this font is used on the conver. I like this font because i've seen it on a cover before. The stretched letters like F symbolise blood.
Font
This font is an example of a horror font, or a scary font. This font i think is ideal for the cover of a scary film but also a film that contains aliens. That's my first impression.
Halloween
This poster is a perfect idea of a scary poster. This poster is for advertisment of the film Halloween. The theme of the poster is orange just like the theme of halloween. It looks like fire but a template of a mans face, in the background and within the fire i think contains potential victims. To spice up the poster, they have included, which i believe the mass murder, but he's holding a head and a knife. I doubt it's his own head. I think the poster has target audience over 18's as i've assumed this film contains violent scenes. I think this poster is very appealing simple because of the black and orange theme. It stands out, also the poster doesn't give much away, like final destination. I like the poster, i haven't watched the film but i'm tempted to.
Final destination
I don't quite know the purpose of the film final destination, whether it's a horror film or not, but it contains some gruesome scenes. Final destinations film and poster cover doesn't exactly portray a scary film, but the poster i feel gives too much away. It shows the title and a sub heading 'You can't cheat death, no accidents, no coincidences, no escapes. I feel it would look better if it just had a title.
The cover features five characters. I'm struggling tpo engage with the cover. The characters faces are motionless, they are showing no emotions for saying they are about to die.

Evaluation.
Evaluation.
I decided to create a logo based on sport and a sport show. The specific sport I decided to base my logo on was football. I chose football because it’s simply my favourite sport and in theory, my knowledge of the game is of a high standard. My show would feature all the goals form the English leagues such as The Barclays premier league, N power championship and the N power league 1 and 2. My show will be around three hours long.
I have always had a simple target audience, as I know football can be watched and liked by all ages and both genders.
My logo isn’t very versatile and I don’t think my logo would work black and white. I don’t think this because, I feel my logo would look old fashioned and it would appeal to others.
I have used the colour blue because personally it’s my favourite colour. I know the colour blue is more masculine but, it’s a football programme. I tried other colours such as red but I preferred the blue. I didn’t know what blue to use as light blue was a contender with my colour decision, but I decided to go with dark blue in the end as it looked better. The A in my logo is white. The theme in my logo goes in the order of blue, white and blue, this is because I tried other colours to go with blue but I felt that red, yellow, orange and green didn’t work, so I decided to stick with white.
With my logo I have included a web address just to make it more professional and serious.
Finally I’ll reveal what the name of my logo is.
My show title is called ‘WAG’, this is short for what a goal, which is why I’ve narrowed it down to wag. I love the title of the show, and it’s by far the best idea that I came up with. It’s a catchy name but it’s also out there to fool people or teenage girls. I’m saying teenage girls because a ‘wag’ is known to be a footballers wife and they are often described by the press and tabloids as a ‘wag’. I’m putting myself in their shoes for a short moment, they may see the title of my show and think that my show is about footballers wives or celebrities, only to find out that it’s not., and that my show is a football programme.
I’m happy with my design, idea, logo and final piece. As I’m ecstatic with my logo and effort I’m not ruling out improvement. With every bit of work there will always be somewhere that needs improvement. At this current moment of time I may not notice that, and it may take a week or two-but I’m not ruling it out.

HMV
HMV use this logo. They sell video games, books, magazines, DVD’s, consoles, clothing but most recognisable music! The company operates in the UK and Hong Kong. The logo relates to the gramophone company. The target audience for the company start from as little as children and go all the way up to adults. However the logo looks as if it targets just females but they don’t. Yes I think the logo is effective and it stands out. Good points that the company have added a gramophone in the logo which represents them. Bad points are that the pink font is questionable. Why is it pink? The colours do work but I don’t like the pink. However i do think this logo is versatile, I can imagine it being as a card or website etc. I don't think this logo would work black and white.
burger king
Burger king use this logo but is known as BK. The target audience are burger lovers at all ages I assume this company made burger king to try and rival McDonald’s. The logo represents the burger king cooperation. Yes I think the logo is effective but can be improved. Good points about the logo is that it’s selling you what they produce in the name, so you know what you’re going for. I don’t have any bad points about the logo. I think it’s well designed. Yes I think the colours work well. They use the colours of a burger which adds extra excitement to the logo. I don't think this logo is very versatile. It wouldn't work as a card or website as they don't do delivery service. I also don't think that this logo will work black and white, simply because not many fast food restuarants are black and white and without colour, then there's no excitement.
Facebook is a social networking site where you can communicate with friends and family all over the world. Facebook incorporative use the logo. The logo relates to the company as they’ve named the site after their company. The target audience for the logo would be both genders and aimed at teenagers, young adults and adults. I don’t think the logo is effective. It’s just plain and simple. I don’t really have any good points. Bad points are that they should of made the logo more attractive or make the font more creative. The colours do work though. Blue and white mix well. I don't think this is versatile though. I'm struggling to picture in my head what the logo would look black and white.
gamestation
Gamestation is a game store that sells brand new and second hand games and consoles. Gamestation has numerous stores around the UK. Gamestation is owned by the game group plc so if you’ve ever heard of game then they’re both owned by the same company. I don’t think the logo relates to the company well. The game logo relates more in my opinion. Yes I think the logo is effective. Gamestation target people that are interested in video games. Mainly males by the structure of the store and shops. They attract young adults, teenager and children. My good point about the logo is that it stands out well. I don’t really have any bad points. The colours work well together and match. This, i feel is versatile. It would work really well as a card, if people had any enquiries about games etc. I also think it would work well black and white. Gamestation have a grey theme so it's rather dark inside the stores so that's why i think it's versatile.

Volvic uses this logo. Volvic produce mineral water. Volvic company uses this logo. Volvic started to introduce fruit drinks as well. I would say the target audience for volvic are for people that like to drink water. Personally I wouldn’t spend money on what I have in the tap. It’s as good as the bottle. The logo represents the company and why they used it. They used it because of a volcano that erupted in France so that why they added mountains on the small logo. No I don’t really think the logo is effective. It’s nice that they have themed the logo on a past event that happened years ago so that’s a good point. I don’t really have any bad points about the logo. Yes I think the colours work well.
Twitter is a social networking site. Twitter incorporative use the logo. Twitter target as young as teenagers and try to make the website as safe as possible for them so they can communicate with friends. They also target adults as well. The key selling points are that many famous people use it and you can follow them to see what they’re up to. The blue bird represents twitter and twitter inc. Yes I think the logo is effective but I think twitter could attract younger than teenagers as they might come across and see it as a game dues to the cartoon character bird. The colour theme stands out. I like the blue and the bird idea. I like the way they have an animal to represent it. I don’t have any bad points about the logo. I think the colours work great.
foot locker
Footlocker is an American sportswear retailer with firms in the UK. The target audience are for people who want top brand shoes and all ages and both genders. They also do clothing for both genders. My opinion is that I would think that foot locker is a football shop as the logo looks like a referee. I don’t think the logo relates to the company very well. It’s a small business with individual share holders. No I don’t think the logo is effective at all. Who ever designed it clearly needs to be sacked. I don’t have any good points. Bad points are the name. Footlocker is not a name that I would have used. The colours are awful and I don’t think they work. Black and white with bold red letters is questionable. I think they need to stick with the black and white theme.

The UFEA champions league use this logo. The champions league is feature on sky or ITV. The target audience is male football fans who love to watch European football but doesn’t rule out women watching it. The logo relates to the company by representing UEFA. Yes I believe the logo is effective. First time looking at it you get the indication that it’s a star competition. I love the logo. The dark back ground colours work really well. I don’t have any bad points about the logo. Yes I think the colours work really well.
Google is an American multinational search engine. Google hosts and develops a number of services and products. The target audience for Google I believe is everyone who wants to browse the internet. It’s the number one search engine. The logo relates to the company because of the search engine and it’s been dominate in the US. Yes I think the logo is effective. They have themes for famous people, deaths, famous peoples birthdays or tragic days for remembrance. I think the logo is nice and colourful. The font also is a reasonable size. I don’t have any bad points about the logo. Yes I think the colours work really well. It’s very attractive.

02 use this logo. O2 was originally call telephonica UK limited, but was then traded as 02. 02 is a telecommunications, internet and service provider. The target audience for 02 are I would say people that are interested, like and want to be on the network. But it may be cheaper than other networks as well. Yes I think the logo is effective. It’s short and snappy. Good points are that they shortened the name for O2 and that it’s blue and the company has set it on a water theme. I don’t really have any bad points about the logo. Yes the colours work fantastically.
Huggies
Huggies is a well known company that produces high quality nappies for babies, toddlers and young infants. They come in a varies of ranges and sizes. The target audience for Huggies are parents but mainly mothers as they want the best for their child. I don’t think the logo relates to the company as it’s owned by the Kimberly Clarke company who also owns 13 other products such as Kleenex and Andrex toilet paper. I think the logo is effective. It stands out with the bold bubble writing. I also feel that with the name the company have tried to go for something amateur. Good points are that the logo stands out. I don’t really have any bad points about the logo. Yes I think the colours work well. The white and blue title stands out well with the green packaging.
MC Donald's
Mc Donald’s use this logo. MC Donald’s serve around an estimated 64 million customers daily. The target audience for MC Donald’s are for people that enjoy the food. Once you go MC Donald’s you have the urge to go back there again. MC Donald's also had the famous motto of 'im lovin it'. I don’t think they targeted a particular gender for the logo. However whenever you see a MC Donald’s golden arch symbol you automatically know what it is. The logo relates to the company as it’s the founders surname. Yes I think the logo is effective. It stands out really well. I like the logo. I think the good points are that it’s appealing. I don’t really have any bad points. Yes I think the yellow and red blend together really well.
JD
JD sports is a sports fashion retail company that has firms all over the UK. JD doesn’t stand for anything but I assume it is the initials of the founders of the company (John Wardle and David Makin). The target audience for JD is for teenagers and young adults. They produce both genders for shoes and clothing. The logo is basic and shows no masculine or feminine sides with the colours. The logo relates to the company because it’s the initials of the owners but not everyone is aware of what JD means. No I don’t think the logo is effective. I don’t really have any good points about the logo. Bad points are that I lacks colour and detail. It’s just a basic logo and isn’t eye catching. Yes the colours work.

Sky sports is a brand name for numerous sports orientated channels. I love everything about sky sports as they feature everything. They have around 13 channels. Sky sports feature a different variety of sports. Tennis, darts, football, rugby, American football, boxing and many more. I’m going to say the target audience is males, especially for sky sports news as they have to most attractive women at peak times. The logo relates to the company because the colours of the logo matches with the colours of the set. Yes I think the logo is effective. Sky sports. The name indicates what the channel will feature unlike ESPN. I like the logo. The good points are that it stands out. I don’t really have any bad points about the logo. Yes I think the colours work great.
espn logo
ESPN is an American sports broadcasting channel and they use this logo. They feature sport such as football, American football, baseball, basketball, interviews and many more. ESPN stands for Entertainment and Sports Programming Network. ESPN have around 7/8 channels. The target audience are sports fans. I would say they target males because of the late night live football they feature. The logo is short for Entertainment and sports programming network. The logo doesn’t indicate what they feature though. No I don’t think the logo is effective because it’s too plain. I don’t really have any. Bad points are that it doesn’t sell what it features in the logo. If I didn’t know what ESPN was then I would assume that it’s a channel broadcasting grand prix. The colours do work as the channel is themed around red.
Nike logo
Nike is a massive public traded sportswear and equipment provider based in the US. Nike have a very specific target audience, they don’t just target one area. They have a range of bag, football boots, running shoes and clothing. I would say athletes, children and teenagers. I rarely see adults wearing the brand.
The logo is in the name. The name Nike isn’t used anymore because the logo is so popular. Whenever you see the symbol you instantly know what brand it is. Nike have a motto which says ‘Just do it’. Yes I think the logo is effective. It’s a popular brand and has the coolness about it. Good points are that the logo has been successful and noticeable over the years. Bad points I think they need to create a different motto. I assume people think what do you mean by just do it? Yes the colours work. Nike make sure the Nike symbol stands out on every trainer or piece of clothing they design.

asda logo
ASDA use this logo. ASDA is a British supermarket which provides food, clothing, general and household merchandise, toys, and financial services. ASDA target parents and mainly adults as they’re more likely to buy the groceries or school uniform for their children. ASDA stands for associated dairies. I spent a while trying to find out what ASDA is short for but now it’s understandable. I think the bright green capital sign is effective and it stands out well. Good points are that it’s big and bold and they are clear about the opening times by adding a massive 24 hours sign next to it. Bad points are that I feel they could of came up with a better store name or provide the logo with a motto. Yes the colours work well and stand out especially at night time.
apple logo
Apple use this logo. Apple is an American cooperation that designs consumer electronics, computer software and personal computers. I’ll name some. I pads, I phones, I pod and final cut etc. Apples target audience are for people that are willing to pay big sums of money for better quality. (middle/upper class), however their musical devices are known to target 12-35 year olds. There are many apple logo’s and I’ll include pictures. They all relate to the company. The name ’apple’ isn’t included on the logo simply because it’s so common and only a picture is needed for the public or buyers to recognise what company has produced the merchandise. Yes I think the logo is effective. Especially the multicoloured logo. I think that’s very attractive. I like the apple logo I think it’s nice and basic. A bad point is that I’ve seen black I phones with the apple logo in black as well. Personally I feel that’s a bad point because the logo doesn’t stand out on the device. Not all the colours work. I feel white I phone should have a black apple logo and vice versa.

EA sports use this logo. EA stands for electronic arts, they create sports video games and try to make them as realistic as possible. EA sports have a motto which is ‘it’s in the game’. EA sports target audience were male, in 2009 they decided to change their target audience to male and female so females can enjoy what they create. The way they did this was by creating fitness games and games you control by using lactation move. The logo relates to the company because it’s short for Electronic arts. I think the logo is effective because whenever a sports game is released you know that EA have made it. That’s what EA do. Also once you see the EA logo you expect quality because it’s a top gaming company. I couldn’t really break down the logo but a good point I can say is that it’s eye catching. The bad points are it doesn’t stand out enough. I think they need to give it an update. Yes the colours work. EA have gone for a pretty basic colour scheme which is red, blue and white.

KFC logo
KFC use this logo. KFC stands for Kentucky Fried Chicken. KFC was founded in the 1930’s and they are famous for their fried chicken because it tastes so good.
According to the KFC menu they are targeting African Americans but I am most likely to be wrong as in the advertisements of KFC they don‘t just use African Americans to advertise their food, they use white Americans/British people. With the family bucket they target families as seen in a varies of adverts. The logo relates to the company because of the companies trademark red and white colours. Also KFC is short for Kentucky Fried Chicken. Most importantly American Harland ‘Colonel’ Saunders, the creator of KFC is in the picture of the KFC logo. I think the logo is effective.
